Abstract

This article examines the moral-educational thought in the works of Shaykh Muslihuddin Sa’di Shirazi, a renowned 13th-century Persian poet and Sufi. Through classics such as Gulistan and Bustan, Sa’di underscores the importance of integrating knowledge and ethics in shaping morally upright and wise human beings. The study employs a library research method and reviews the moral values in Sa’di’s thought along with their implications for character education in Indonesia. The findings indicate that Sa’di’s conception of moral education rests on three pillars: (1) the formation of inner charactersincerity, discipline, and self-control as a prerequisite for educational effectiveness; (2) the primacy of knowledge over wealth as an enduring inheritance and provision for life; and (3) social responsibility and leadership that require trustworthiness and competence because of their far reaching impact. Thus, education is not merely the transfer of knowledge but the strengthening of integrity that yields concrete virtuous practice. Through value-based education that instills honesty, responsibility, exemplary conduct, and discipline from an early age, it is hoped that a generation will be formed that is intellectually capable and morally mature
