This article is a review article of the book Al-Ghazali's Philosophical Theology by Frank Griffel, especially the third and fourth chapters entitled “al-Ghaz?l? on the Role of falsafa in and fourth chapters with the titles “al-Ghaz?l? on the Role of falsafa in Islam” and ”The Reconciliation of Reason and Revelation through the “Rule of Interpretation” (Q?n?n al-ta`w?l)”. Through the book review Griffel firstly assesses that in his scientific contemplation, al-Ghazali his scientific contemplation, al-Ghazali used some of the ash'ariyah terminology only to deal with lay people, but in his thoughts and ideas he greatly admired Ibn Sina. Sina. Secondly, in the issue of Sufism, the author identified wants to place the character as a pantheist. His statement is clear “fan?' is ‘all being is God, all that exists is God’. (al-wuj?d) is He”. Third, despite the author's inclination, what is interesting is that Griffel wants to bring a “new” idea of the year of al-Ghazali's birth, which is 1056, not 1058 as historiography believes. 1058 as traditional historiography believes
