Internalisasi Nilai-Nilai Islam dalam Tradisi Sedekah Laut dan Manganan di Kelurahan Karangsari Tuban serta Implikasinya terhadap Kehidupan Sosial Keagamaan

This study aims to examine the internalization of Islamic values within the Sedekah Laut (Sea Alms) and Manganan traditions practiced by the coastal community of Karangsari Village, Tuban, and to analyze their relevance to contextual Islamic education. These local traditions remain an important part of community life, yet their existence generates diverse perspectives. Some community members regard them as expressions of gratitude to God, social solidarity, and local wisdom preservation, while others criticize certain practices as potentially deviating from pure Islamic teachings. This situation highlights the importance of investigating how Islamic values are embedded within local cultural traditions and manifested in the religious life of coastal communities. This research employed a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The findings reveal that the Sedekah Laut tradition, conducted in the month of Rajab, and the Manganan tradition, held in the month of Ruwah, function not only as cultural rituals but also as forms of non-formal Islamic education. These traditions embody values of gratitude to Allah SWT, collective prayer, respect for ancestors within socially accepted boundaries, social responsibility, mutual cooperation, and the strengthening of Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah). The study demonstrates an integration of Islamic teachings and local culture that produces religious practices aligned with community life. Therefore, Sedekah Laut and Manganan serve as effective means of da‘wah, character development, and contextual, adaptive, and locally grounded Islamic education for coastal communities.
